These are the mashes that are worth hearing, so stop your searching and instead settle down at your computer… turn up your speakers… and get ready for that sweet nectar that only EARMILK can give ya. Let’s GO!

Another week, another varied assortment of 15+ mashups. And with each passing week, we get closer to the centennial anniversary of Mashup Mondays. No idea what I’ll do for that, but I’ll deal with that when we get to it. In the meantime, we have mashups from the likes of D.veloped, The Melker Project and from newcomers such as Flipboitamidles and ATHOM. However, I want to start off by highlighting a pleasant mashup from Mighty Mike which takes full advantage of a genre that normally doesn’t make an appearance here – tango. “Unbelievably Tangled Up” uses Caro Emerald‘s “Tangled Up” and EMF‘s “Unbelievable” culminating in one of the funnest mashups I’ve heard this year — a welcome break from the norm of EDM mashups. For some reason, I can hear Gorillaz being used with Emerald’s track but I leave that to the artists.

Continuing on with mashups that break the norm, aforementioned newcomer ATHOM gives us a mashup that rivals Mighty Mike. “Hot Rosana” makes me want to walk outside, saunter around a bit, jump in my car and say hello to my peeps. Wait…did I really say that? A welcome side-effect from listening to this track. With Wax‘s “Rosana” being the driving instrumental, I can’t think of a track’s flow better suited than Bulletproof aka Teflon‘s “Hot Topic” to be selected as its pairing. Play this one at a party, have people wondering when did this turn into a mariachi fest, and watch the smiles appear as they become slowly sucked in with the wonder that is “Hot Rosana”. (Sidebar…if you haven’t seen the original video, watch here).

If you know me personally, then you’ll know that I can’t stand radio songs. One of the most prominent radio artists (unfortunately) is Nicki Minaj. Thankfully, she takes a minor role in Kellys Sevlac‘s “Out of my Stereo” which pairs B.o.B.‘s “Out of My Mind” and Machine Gun Kelly‘s “Stereo”. I wasn’t aware of MGK’s track yet hearing Bobby Ray Simmons dropping his envious flow over the top made it sound like an original. I kinda like this rock-ish pairing with Bobby Ray, and certainly wouldn’t be opposed to hearing more of these. For being a first impression of Sevlac, I enjoyed what I heard.

There are plenty of more tracks below, with other favorites including Sjoersje‘s “Promiscuous Dance” (Genesis with Nelly Furtado), Flipboitamidles’ (strange name) “What You Know About Staying Awake? (Two Door Cinema Club with English darling, Ellie Goulding), and MashMike‘s “Yee Gettin’ Over” with DeorroDavid Guetta & Chris WillisFergieLMFAO, and Corona though I’d prefer without the incessant screeching of Fergie. Her sample seems a tad out of place, but you live with the good and the bad, right? As always, hit up the comments with your preferred tracks and your opinions/feedback.

Oh and finally, while I normally don’t do this, I want to bring attention to an upcoming mashup album that I heard about today. With tracks done by DJ Colatron, Fissunix, SpareElbowSkin, and ToToM, the album’s main focus centers on popular indie folk band Bon Iver. Scheduled for release on the 7th of June, the teaser video below gives us a small glimpse of what to expect on this 11-track project.
