A day late and a dollar short, but I felt this post needed to go up. In an industry that many believe has reached a saturation point, it’s nice to know that you can always count on some artists to defy the pessimism. Yves V is such an artist. One who has the ability to take the current sounds of progressive house and spin them anew, creating tracks that, while recognizable, demonstrate an understanding of the past and a vision for the future. The Belgian’s talents continue with his newest release, “What”, a collaboration with fellow countryman Romeo Blanco, who has a host of tracks off such famous labels, like Cr2 and Be Yourself Music’s subsets. Though the song contains many standard elements, it doesn’t feel trite. It’s partially due to a minimal, eerie introduction, which provides contrast to the big room sound that you get later on in the track. As for the other part, I’m just betting it’s Yves V’s skills coupled with his drive to produce quality music.
