We’ve got a vintage treat for you today. Ten years after the original white label pressing of DJ Eastwood‘s “U Ain’t Ready,” No Hats No Hoods is reviving the grime classic as a single backed with new remixes from Untold and Spooky. It’s a fitting followup after their recent White Label Classics compilation, a choice selection of notably rare grime gems from Ruff Sqwad. We’ve got the stream in full for you so don’t waste any more time not listening:

There’s not much to say about the original that hasn’t been said already, though it perfectly captures the essence of early grime instrumentals – so if you have no idea what that means this is as good of a place as anyway to start. Hemlock Recordings boss Untold lays down a wild and wiry flip that sounds reasonably fresh despite being titled the “2010 remix”. Grime vet Spooky gives the track his trademark styling: low-slung and heavy yet spartan (pun intended) enough to not be pinned down to one vibe. Overall I wouldn’t mind if NHNH kept doing releases like this all year and beyond, whether the world is ready or not. Stay tuned for the EP on May 6th.
