While indie electronic newcomers Iyes initially gained attention with their spacey and lyrical dream pop, it turns out that when their beats stand alone they shine as progressive and bliss-filled electronica. The Brighton, UK duo’s newest song, “Daddy” meshes organic rhythmic patterns, ambient tones and blasting synths with spot on guitar work to form a hazy and cohesive demo. While the song is in the midst of its peak it drops off almost completely and the strong hook is reconstructed one layer at a time, only to fade away for the finale. In response to the electronica vibe in “Daddy” they commented on SoundCloud “we fancied giving something away for people to gaze at the sun whilst listening …”

In order to get a grasp of how different their sound is when their beats are supporting vocals I recommend listening to the demo of “Glow” that features both members, Josh Christopher and Melis Soyaslanova complimenting each other on vocals. In “Glow” they both demonstrate the wide range within their voices and the capability of where their direction can head in the future.
