Last week I heard FMLYBND’s “Electricity” for the first time, a gushing electronic rock anthem that pulls at the same heart strings, as would MGMT or Empire of the Sun.  In it I found the perfect balance of electronic and indie, as well as an bittersweet tone that seemed to speak of love’s excitement with a somber underpinning.  Today the 6-member band from Isla Vista, CA finds its track remixed by Santa Barbara Natives, Candyland, in preparation for their performance at Meltdown Music Festival in Texas. While still dubby, Josie and Ethan have contrasted the hard drops with lighter tropical elements, making it the ideal dubstep track for the multitude of upcoming outdoor festivals.

Having seen Candyland live and hearing a handful of unreleased tracks, I can assure there are big things in store for 2013. Be advised that they are playing shows across the U.S. this spring, so check them out if you get a chance.
