As an overall trend, remixing Lianne La Havas seems to be a difficult task to master. It’s so easy to take away from the simplicity of her music and voice, and lose her charm in the process. However, this hasn’t stopped swarms from attempting the task, and as you might predict, I haven’t found too many that I’ve been impressed with until today. 

England’s fLako seems to have been officially tasked by La Havas for a remix, and what came out was pure genius. Keeping her core style intact, the beat for her beautiful voice was kept minimal (for dance standards) and only used to accessorize the original version. 

Her simplicity and grace are still strongly embedded into the new song, and for an artist like Lianne La Havas, it’s important to enhance, and not change, her voice in a remix; she’s so close to perfection in her style that trying to flip her into something new is near impossible to succeed in.

Lianne La Havas is busy on the festival circuit, including Lollapalooza and Glastonbury. fLako is equally busy on tour, and he recently came out with an EP, Enclosure
