North London’s Calibar shares the same borough as some of the UK’s biggest emcees including Skepta and JME, so it’s fair to say that being a rapper from Tottenham has certain expectations. The London native definitely delivers upon any premeditated expectations that someone would think looking at where he grew up, with his new single “Animals” a perfect example of why he’s so highly rated in the UK.

“Animals” shows what the results can be when you mix the swagger and pumping sounds of US club rap, with the gritty delivery influence that comes from UK grime. With a beat that contains deep 808’s and snappy claps, Calibar and Wizzy Wow both come through with brilliant delivery and clever wordplay throughout that hammer home the point both participants intend to be seen as one of the UK rap scenes biggest threat’s. Peep the video for “Animals” below, and keep an eye out for the next instalment from Calibar, which will feature grime legend Ghetts.
