Collaborations usually go one of two ways. Either the artists are far apart in terms of styles and a nice blend of the two creates a best-of-both-worlds new sound, or producers of a similar breed join forces to develop a monster track of their signature style. In the case of the latest Congorock and Nom De Strip track, the latter is true, and the results are powerful. “Minerals” features booming tribal drums and a thick electro synth, neither of which are surprising giving the artists involved. This one even caught the year of the gaming world, and is set to be released as part of the Need For Speed Rivals series.

Nom De Strip has been churning out a huge list of quality originals this year, with his two-part Clouds EP that included DJ favorite tracks like “Techno Saturday”, “Seesaw” and “Clouds”. With a comfortable spot as part of the Rising Music family, look for bright things ahead for the Canadian producer. On the other hand, “Minerals” is a rare original for Congorock. While his 2012 output included electro smashes such as “Monolith” and “Agarta”, most of his work this year has been remix-driven, releasing officials for Laidback Luke, Clockwork, and Zeds Dead. Whatever their production approach, we’re happy to get more music out of either of these two talented producers.
