I’d like to introduce you to a Toronto-based act that goes by the name of DAVIDS, whom I recently crossed paths with. Released on Nile River Records back in June of this year, their debut EP titled 0613EP offers a new wave, synth-soaked array of tracks, of which “Iranians” belongs. Tipping its hat off to an 80s inspired landscape where we might find New Order, DAVIDS incorporate the haunting vocals of Mitch Bowden, contributing to the electronic wall of sound us listeners experience.

“Iranians” is multi-faceted, with blown out bass-laced synth, consistently emphasizing the off-beats. The use of synthetic percussion drives the track forward with force, while the fluttering dark pop additives flourish. As the stand-out single for me off of 0613EP, “Iranians” exists as the proof of a promising start for DAVIDS’ emergence into the electronic indie scene.
