One of today’s most prominent taste makers in the UK dance scene, Mosca, finally puts out another zestful record aimed for basement all-nighters. A Thousand Years’ Wait could not have been better titled considering this is the producer’s first release of 2013. After releasing records for prominent labels like Hypercolour and 3024 it was only natural for the next to come via Dutch label, Ann Aimee.
The EP kicks off with “It’s Not What It Looks Like”–an energetic track that treads between a bit of deep house and a more unconventional industrial sound. Packed with daring kick drums and delicately coated synth-work, Mosca’s technical side shines through here. “Kneecap” shows a more straightforward formula, which appropriates a robust temper that gets balanced by the smoother keys playing alongside. “Press Up” is a great floor tool that sounds both restless and collected at the same time. Progressively getting into a funk-induced vibe, the looped beat is one of those signature Mosca creations that will have you wanting to play this over and over again.
