Music in the Middle is right around the corner and to help us get amped up for the music that lie ahead we have been delivering three must see acts every week until game time. This week we take a look at Zoogma, Giraffage, and Blue Sky Black Death.

Check out our top track picks to get a little taste of what to expect when out there. We can’t wait to see you there!

Let’s begin….

Welcome electronic rock outfit, Zoogma to the line up. With their second full length LP Anthems 4 Androids out last month, we can expect to hear a ton of new music from these guys. Known as Dirty South electro rockers, the group has found a sweet spot in between heavy hitting dance beats and electronic rock, for the ultimate genre-defying sound. With dance music hip-hop, jazz, drum & bass, and progressive rock in their roots there is definitely something for each and every music lovers taste palate. We look forward to exploring new realms of music with Zoogma.

Charles Yin better known as Giraffage makes music for us to daydream to. Offering up a fresh musical array of dreamy pop beats, sensual synths, and lush experimental electronica we were sold on his sound from the get-go. Based out of San Francisco this young star has been reaping the benefits of online chatter, which pushed him into our speaker systems in the first place. Back in high school Yin got his start playing the drums in bands ranging from metal to indie rock, shifting gears a little bit he began playing the guitar, which ultimately led him to electronic music production. Known as a bedroom producer Giraffage found a fan base online and since than has seen support from Pitchfrok, XLR8R, and The Fader, just to name a few. With those kinds of publications supporting your work we can certainly say Giraffage is one to watch out for and lucky for you to experience live down at MIM.

When picking a name for your band, you want it to do more than stand out, you want it to speak volumes, and I don’t think any duo has done that better than Blue Sky Black Death. To quote them, “it refers to a skydiving phrase alluding to beauty and death.” It almost sounds like the perfect mixture, which is exactly what the duo from Seattle provide by combining live instrumentation and samples in their sound. BSBD, also known as Kingston and Young God, have been making music together since 2003. Primarily focusing on producing hip-hop beats, the pair has been known to push the boundaries of the genre and have even crossed over into the trip-hop realm. Working with some of the undergrounds rawest of acts in HolocaustHell RazahJean GraeVirtuosoIll BillRob SonicJus Allahand more, they have gained exposure through their edgy craft work. Their most recent project Noir was released back in 2011, with collaborative efforts coming in between to high praise. They are putting the finishing touches on their newest album that will be released on October 1st entitled Glaciers. It’s time to put your parachute on. These guys will be taking you for a ride unlike anything you’ve experience this year.
