UK rap has become increasingly appealing to the international community, with Danny Brown singing endorsements left and right, and bedroom producers, bloggers, and music fans (metaphorically) scouring the globe for the freshest talents.

While the artists hailing from across the pond aren’t exactly plastered over US Top 40 quite yet, Ikes‘s newest track, “You Welcome,” is a song that will surely have an appeal to anyone and everyone. It brings back an old school, laid back vibe of the nineties, but the artist’s style and swagger builds a modern feel to the otherwise nostalgic song. The lyrics feature the presence of a beautiful woman, and the visuals only reaffirm. The song is simple, but this simplicity is the biggest asset- it commands attention and respect. With stunning production by The Cratez and strong, consistent flow by Ikes, this is a pairing that needs to continue working together.

The visuals for the song are also simple. It features the artist in a well-tailored suit, appropriately badass cigar, and some beautiful mood lighting. Of course, no music video is complete without the beautiful women and classy alcohol. Overall, Ikes remains strong by keeping things simple and relying on his talent to fill the rest. If he isn’t someone on your radar, now’s a good time to start paying attention.
