On Friday, the former kingpin of Boston label Banana Peel Records, Doctor Jeep officially released his new drum n’ bass track “Golden Eye,” which will appear on the upcoming album The Future Sounds of North America II from Brooklyn-based label Party Guy Records. At just 23, and after four years masterminding Banana Peel- sponsored techno bashes in Boston, this college town veteran is now making noise in the loudest city on earth. While the budding Boston dance scene seems to hemorrhage DJs and producers, a successful transfer into the NYC rat race is by no means easy. His new posse at Party Guy Records is clearly confident in his abilities as a producer, as “Golden Eye,” will be the leading track on the compilation album that features the brightest, and the best lesser-known artists close to wide spread success. On it, Jeep layers swift rhythms with powerful, and classic amen breaks for an emblematic drum n’ bass track. Set apart by an overlay of bold, eerie Twilight Zone-esque melodies, “Golden Eye,” is sure to be heard over the NYC buzz in the underground this year.
