Yes, you read that correctly: Rapsody and Phonte and Jay Electronica, produced by 9th Wonder. What else needs to be said, really? Rapsody is as sharp as ever on this new cut, appropriately titled, “Jedi Code,” from her DJ Drama-hosted mixtape She Got Game, and she brings two of raps most enigmatic–and lyrically versed–figures with her. This is the rap purists pine for. Not a single bar is out of place; each MC showcases a meticulous flow that is the sign of a craftsman. 9th Wonder remains true to form, bringing his signature soul chops and a sick breakdown as well. There is no weak link here, but Jay Electronica wins with “It’s a Roc Nation, Jay Electronic extravaganza, the fans needed oxygen masks for every stanza.” Hopefully we can expect more from him soon?
