ASAP Ferg has really stepped into his own over the past year. After stand out verses on the ASAP Mob compilation album he has created his own fan base and stepped out from under the ASAP Rocky shadow as the next solo artist from the mob. His compination of slow and fast flow with and the occasional attempt to sing makes his delivery unique and reminiscent of Bone Thugs n Harmony which is one of his idols.

His new track “Hood Pope” is from his RCA debut album titled Trap Lord which drops August 20th. With this joint Ferg flows over a slowed instrumental, describing himself as the Pope of the hood and translating the responsibilities of the Pope to one more relevant for the hood. This is definitely a song with a deeper meaning for those who enjoy reading between the lines. “Hood Pope” is a change of pace from the bangers that Ferg has been coming with lately, I am excited to listen to Trap Lord because I feel Ferg really has something solid with this project and could really solidify a name for himself in hip hops new wave of artists.

Listen below and enjoy your tuesday.
