Brick + Mortar

Brick + Mortar, self-categorized as “electro/concrete/psychedelic/ghetto/indie rock,” is comprised of two members, guitarist Brandon Asraf and drummer John Tacon. That may seem like an inordinate and unnecessary number of tags for one band, but with a single listen it’ll all make sense. Brick + Mortar churns out some of the richest sonic textures you’ll come across this year, or any other. Labeling it indie rock alone simply doesn’t cut it. The band’s name is one of the most apropos monikers you’ll ever find: together Asraf and Tacon come together to build the foundation of something special.

As an Island Def Jam/Photo Finish product, Brick + Mortar have amassed quite a critical buzz over the last few years and hope to expand their ever-growing fan base with a new EP entitled BANGS. The band’s music is characterized by heavy, aggressive bass lines and layered instrumentation. With each new release, Brick + Mortar grow increasingly comfortable in their own skin, and they continue to create records with universal appeal.

Today, I am proud to premiere the band’s latest record “Keep This Place Beautiful”, which features a commanding hook and infectious riffs. The song is produced by Justyn Pilbrow, and it is as vibrant as its message. The BANGS EP arrives tomorrow (July 30th), and it will feature brand new music from the duo.
