I know we’re already halfway through summer, but if you still haven’t managed to find yourself a song to capture your vacations of 2013, the new MINKS track “Margot” could serve as a potential candidate. The single sounds somehow implaceably familiar, with jangly Smiths-esque guitars, synths and a punchy 1980s drum machine backing. On top of all this singer Sonny Kilfoyle croons about the well-worn, though appropriately nostalgic cliche of “dreaming of the west coast.” So, “Margot” certainly contains all the necessary elements of a romantic summer anthem should you happen to be in the market for one. MINKS’ upcoming album Tides End will be released on August 6 via Captured Tracks.
