English producer and DJ Riton’s much anticipated mixtape, Can’t Stop the Clock, finally hit the internet yesterday. And to no surprise, this is forty minutes of hard-pounding dance music that makes no creative compromises. It’s everything the world has come to appreciate in Riton’s work: a combination of all the great things about the infectious music hipsters love to hate, but without any of the annoying overly synthetic qualities often found in it. Each of the tracks in this tape is gritty, dirty, and yet strangely lovable. In what could be described as dance meets hip hop meets addictive pop, Henry Smithson seems to definitely know what sounds please the ear.

Including work from the late Aaliyah, the enchanting Cassie, the hard hitting Kid Ink, and many others, Riton has done it yet again. While he maintained a relatively low profile for a while, it now seems obvious that he wasn’t wasting any of that time. It might seem, from the title of this mixtape, that while the artist may have no control over time, he definitely has a strong grip over the music.

He has a few exclusive tour dates for the release, including stops in Ibiza and Germany, although sadly none across the pond in the US. Can’t Stop the Clock is available for full stream on Soundcloud, with some of the tracks also available for download.
