The beat is the common backbone for most musical styles, and is the make-or-break factor for a majority of tunes. There has been a slow but steady surge of downtempo and trip-hop producers being born. Some reside in the classic jazzy style that Nujabes has mastered and polished, while others bite into powerful hip-hop and R&B influenced beats.
However, there is an even smaller niche within this sub-genre. Those who wander into the realms of the unorthodox and experimental can sometimes come off as strange or pretentious. But there are elites who have mastered these strange noises and are now on the forefront of music, constantly pushing boundaries.
One such budding producer is Shelf Nunny (Christian Gunning). He tends to fill the voids in his lacings with ambient and organic effects, in hopes of causing chaotic harmony.
