In wake of Verve Music Group‘s project to remix female jazz classics with help from the game’s most acclaimed producers, Skyphos sends this ambient edit our way. Unlike Bassnectar‘s remix on Verve Remixed: The First Ladies, the Deep Heads Collective member nixes the original’s iconic brass lines (for the better, may I add) for a minimalistic, airy approach. Refined piano and warm synths layer well over light percussion to evoke even more emotion from Simone’s ever-poignant vocals, giving the unknown (until now) Dutchman his big break into the blogosphere.
