Starting you off a little bit on the funky side this week and easing into harder big room tracks for your weekend soundtrack, we’ve got a lot of great releases to share with you. A big thank you to Colin and Jamie for their help this week; have a great weekend and don’t forget to support your favorite artists on Beatport!

Crystals (Federico Scavo Remixe)

Ultra
UL4139

“Crystals” is a track that has everything that can bring dance music to reach its fullest potential. Pulling from the best elements from funky retro house, soft synths reminiscent of house just before it hit its stride a few years ago, and heavier bass and drums influenced by current trends. Italian house music superstar Federico Scavo has this formula down to a science, producing track after track that is surprisingly appealing to all kinds of dance music fans, aided by the ever present groove to get you moving out on the dance floor. The super catchy vocals from Jacq in “Crystals” compliment this remix to make it a complete winner.

City of Dreams (Remixes)

Astralwerks
00602537444991

 “City of Dreams” has been around for over a year. The collaboration between Dirty South, Alesso and vocalist Ruben Haze has been a staple in live sets, now seeing a resurgence in festival play during the summer months. But over the past few months, the track has seen some major updates released on Astralwerks from Swedish duo Showtek and British underground progressive genius Jacques lu Cont. Showtek’s electro-heavy take on “City of Dreams” adds much needed layering to the overall composition of the production, giving it depth and added umph. Lu Cont’s update to the track makes any generic feeling element feel unique, somehow transforming “City of Dreams” into a classic ready for any situation. Both remixes begin in the same place but end in complete different worlds: a surprising outcome for a song that’s become so popular and mainstream.

Femme
Young Hearts (J-Trick Remix
)
Bombsquad
BOMBSQ0011

Australian electro house artists are having a field day right now, attracting a growing international audience through stellar productions that consistently top charts and garner veteran DJs’ support. Of said artists, J-Trick again proves why he should be considered one of the foremost with his remix of fellow countrywoman Femme’s track, “Young Hearts”. Having stripped most of the original away, the reinvention takes on a mind of its own, taking you on a journey between layers of synth that manifest as machine gun bursts, ever-rising climbs, and stomping melodies. It’s the perfect storm, where 90s rave meets festival rager.

We’ve featured up and coming Canadian producer Moiez on The Club quite a bit. His remixes are surprising, delving into places of melodic electro and trance that we didn’t even know existed. This week he’s done a remix of Lana del Rey‘s “Young & Beautiful,” which though it was a track that seemed both overdone and over remixed, now has a new light shone on it in its reinvention by Moiez. Check it out and grab it for free download via his Facebook page.
