This video gave me the chills. I’m very sad to see Electric Daisy Carnival leave LA, but if it takes a move to Las Vegas to pull in 230,000 people then go for it. I’m excited to see how they plan to top 2011′s EDC.

Las Vegas, October 6, 2011 – After hosting more than 230,000 amazing fans during Electric Daisy Carnival, Las Vegas 2011, the world’s top musical and artistic talent will return to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway (LVMS) for the 16th Annual Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) on June 8, 9 and 10, 2012.

“When Insomniac decided to produce EDC in Las Vegas last June, we knew we were working with the ideal venue but we weren’t sure how our fans would react,” said Insomniac President and CEO Pasquale Rotella. “But after seeing more than 230,000 people show up to enjoy our show we knew we picked a City and venue that serves as the perfect home for the largest electronic music festival in North America.”

“We are thrilled to welcome the Electric Daisy Carnival back to Las Vegas and to Las Vegas Motor Speedway,” said Chris Powell, president of LVMS. “EDC in 2011 provided a tremendous boost to our local economy. Additionally, the promoter of EDC, Insomniac, demonstrated that it operates a well-organized, safe and secure event. The people at Insomniac are proven professionals, and we’re excited to work together to create an unforgettable EDC in 2012 here at LVMS.”

EDC Las Vegas will be presented in 2012 as a Las Vegas Signature Event. “Las Vegas Events is proud to add Electric Daisy Carnival to its roster of Signature Events,” said Pat Christenson, President of Las Vegas Events. “We look forward to working with Insomniac on the development of EDC Las Vegas.”

Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas was internationally recognized in September at the 2011 DJ Awards in Ibiza as the International Festival of the Year, where Rotella was in attendance to receive the award.

Tickets for this three-day experience go on sale at noon Pacific Time on Tuesday, November 1, 2011. Three-day General Admission tickets will start at $215, three-day VIP tickets are to start at $500 each. There will be a limited quantity of single-day tickets available at a later date.

A special pre-sale event will take place at Insomniac’s debut Halloween festival, Escape from Wonderland, on October 29, 2011, where festival attendees will have exclusive access to purchase discounted advanced tickets for EDC Las Vegas from an Insomniac ticketing booth located inside the event. “The pre-sale is a special Thank You to fans who are coming out en-masse to support Insomniac’s first-ever Halloween event,” said Rotella.

Coachella has just announced its dates for 2011 and the whispers are getting louder as everyone speculates as to the headliners this year. The Do-Lab crew know how to set a mood: trademark organic structures, well lit environment, indoor and outdoor stages, happy people doing things to help good causes, top-notch artwork in every direction you look… oh ya, and big name dance music acts pushing some serious sound. This year’s annual Lucent L’amour event in honor of Valentines Day, was a perfect example of this. If you weren’t outside taking in the live avante garde dance performances or live art, you were treated to this years headliners: N.A.S.A., Bassnectar and Stanton Warriors (in order of appearance) on the multi screened main stage inside.

The big three started off with N.A.S.A. who’s set was like an electro retrospective of dance music mash-up spectacular from Micheal Jackson to Rolling Stones, who’s “Satisfaction” was mixed with Benny Benassi’s classic track of the same name. The crowd was loving it. Add to that the scantily clad girls on stage dancing with big goofy aliens, and a swarm of gold body-suited dancers.. and you’ve got the fixin’s for a proper party.

Next up was Bassnectar. You never know what to expect when this guy is on the decks… which I like… when I catch him rocking a set I like… like this one. Minimal mic time and rewinds means more music… and when the music is this good, you don’t want it to stop. Mind bending sounds, thick beats and tasteful tempo changes kept the crowd hyped for the whole set. While I’m usually not a big fan of DJs getting on the mic, there’s no denying the genuine love and gratitude Lorin espouses to his adoring crowd. It just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy.

The veterans of the bunch closed the party out… Stanton Warriors started their set off with one of the more annoying sounds i can think off… played at a very LOUD volume, followed by a danceable but not awe inspiring performance. That said.. a mediocre set from Stanton Warriors is still gonna make you wanna dance your ass off. It may be a bit formulaic at this point, but it’s an effective formula, and the energy of the crowd proves it.

Overall, this party kicked ass and I can’t wait for this year’s return of Do-Lab’s 4-day mega outdoor event, Lightning in a Bottle. What more can I say? Check out what our friends over at SinningInLA.com had to say about it.

From their start 4 years ago, DROOG has steadily built a reputation as one the one of the leading purveyors of forward-thinking dance, in Los Angeles and beyond.
